| Details of program |
This is a database
program for logging all details of collisions. Facilities exist
for searching, reporting, diagramming (not CAD), pictures etc.
Quote: AIS
is a comprehensive accident data reporting and tracking system,
specifically designed for traffic enforcement personnel. In use
since 1993, AIS has recently been updated to take advantage of
the latest in information technology. Take a quick on-line tour
of the application, or download the entire system and take a
test drive. |
| Review |
I installed the demo
- easy to run and pretty intuitive.
Initally I thought that it was a bit restrictive but now know
that many things can be altered, such as lables within the
program.
This is very much aimed at the home, US, market and may not
be useful elsewhere, such as the UK where feet aren't used and
I've no idea what a "Cited Disposition of Level Infraction"
means!!
Since I wrote the above paragraph I've receieved the above
offer, please let me know if you take it up:
"I'll make an offer to any of your readers...To the first
police department that requests it...they can have a copy of
the
product at no
charge - just have them contact me (John@ViridianTech.com).
Their "fee" would
be to work with me, and tell me what needs to be changed in
order for the product to be marketable in the UK. When we finish
the update, the product is there's for free." |

Sun / shadow calculations
by position and date / time.
Was the sun in the driver's eyes?; Did it happen after sunset?;
Were they in shadow? Just some of the questions answered by
Sunbear (Short for Sun Bearing). Data entry is just Date, time
and any position on Earth. For locations within the U.S.A. the
location can be found from Sunbears database of over 29,000
Zip codes. |
| Review |
I have the promotional
leaflet for Sunbear and it looks very good. I'd love the Zip
code facility for the UK!. For any investigator who does not
get to attend the scene of an accident soon after it's happening
this must be very useful. Typical results include Sun position,
it's angle and bearing, and the various daylight times, Sunrise,
Civil twilight etc. These can be stepped at intervals to show
the sun's position for the time leading up to an accident.

Calculates sun rise
/ set for an entered longitude and latitude.
I see this of use if your are looking at a job, where the scene
was visited by someone else. You can find out whether or not
the position of the sun may have contributed to the accident.
(Or check when to put your lights on!) |

This has a different
purpose to most of the software at TAIS-T. This is a computer
program. It is aimed at the limited market of CHP 555 and related
forms users (Californian Highway Patrol ?). It can import Cad
and Word processing files to "allow the computer novice
to create professional looking accident reports." |

I've downloaded the
demo and as soon as I can I'll let you know it's usefulness
to the AI - if it disappears you'll be able to guess why!. |

Designed to help the
budding astronomer this program has some useful AI possibilities.
If you download astro-info.pdf
from this site (in Word 6.0/95 format) you'll be able to work
out the sun (or moon) position for a given date / time. |
| Review |
It's shareware so why
not try it. There are many features to this - but for AI use
refer to astro-info.pdf
first. |
